NOTICE OF PRICE INCREASE

With effect from 1st June 2002, the price of our organic vegetables and fruit will increase as follows:-

The family vegebox will increase from £12 to £14
The mini vegebox (vegebag) will increase from £6 to £7
The fruit bag will increase from £7 to £8

The price of the organic eggs will remain unchanged at 1.40 per box of 6.

Only our most committed customers will remember the last price rise, which was five years ago, in 1997. Costs have risen considerably in this period, and the current prices no longer reflect production costs. Please adjust your payments accordingly.

Vegetable Update

The good news is that the 'hungry gap' period is well and truly over. Throughout the spring and summer, the vast majority of vegetables are grown at our own vinery and therefore reach you in a very fresh condition, usually within 24 hours of harvest, with salad crops cut a few hours prior to delivery. New potatoes will probably be available until the end of June. Most of you should receive some green peas, which will give way in June to broad beans and french beans. Kohlrabi, fennel, beetroot, spring cabbage and crisp 'salad' turnips will be available for most of May and some of these will be available throughout June. This year we are hoping to have a reasonable harvest of tasty young carrots. Courgettes (green and yellow) will be starting in June, followed by cucumbers, peppers, spring onions, celery and aubergines. Our full size, cold house tomatoes usually start cropping in July. (The cherry tomatoes are supplied by Roger and Nigel Higgs.) Radishes will be available from time to time and various types of lettuce will be plentiful.

Soft fruit

During this period our own tayberries and strawberries will hopefully start cropping. Fruit bag customers automatically have these included. If we have sufficient available, we will let other customers know so that they may be ordered as an add-on extra.

Welcome Back

We are pleased to welcome back Valda to our 'team' who has returned for a second season. The 'GOG' team consists of Jeremy, Anne, June, Roy (delivery driver) and occasional handyman, Bill.
