Day one was extremely amusing, as most of it was spent learning ice-axe arrests (used to stop yourself from sliding off a mountain side), as seen in the majority of photographs above. Techniques varied from simply sliding down feet first on your stomach, to head first upside down (my personal favourite!)
The day involved a walk in to the corrie to the north of Ben Nevis, near the CIC Hut, having parked the mini-bus in a small private car park on forestry commission land (to save time on the walk in).
