Paul Tongs

Paul Tongs, born in Guernsey but now living permanently in Montpellier (France), has so far had a career stretching 25 years on the Jazz scene.

Having toured the States, UK, Australia, Europe with many celebrities, Paul is now concentrating his energies closer to home, having been married in 1999 to his French wife Carline.

Paul recently teamed up with Louis Petrucciani to form a duo performing standards, original compositions, blues, etc. which is currently working in and around Montpellier.

Paul's style of delivery is one that no audience can resist, with his smoky vocals, inventive piano playing, and sense of humour.

There is also a serious side to this pianist who grew up listening to Bill Evans, who he puts on the list as one of ten great innovators of Jazz music today. Paul studied music at the prestigious Dartington College of Arts which gave him a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1997.

Although Paul has been busy with touring up until recently, he has also made hundreds of radio commercials, made music for film and television, and even acted in a film for the Australian broadcasting corporation.

Paul has worked with all these musicians, Courtney Pine, Georgie Fame, Mick Taylor (ex Rolling Stones), Paul Young, Jools Holland, Mornington Lockett (ex Ronnie Scott Quintet), Rolf Harris, Deacon Blue, Jim Mullen, Digby Fairweather, Big Mart Winnings (currently with Van Morrison), Ian Kewley, Richard Bailey (ex Bob Marley), etc., etc.
